Laura and Bill Buck Atrium
Included with admission. All materials provided. Open to all ages; children should be accompanied by an adult.
During Thanksgiving break, enjoy a day at the Museum by exploring the exhibition Hokusai, Hiroshige, and Hasui: Landscapes in Print, completing a family guide, and dropping in to participate in this hands-on workshop to create your own kokeshi-inspired wooden dolls.
Traditional kokeshi are handcrafted Japanese figures known for their simple forms and expressive painted designs. Using pre-made wooden forms as a starting point, participants will decorate their dolls with paint or markers and embellish them with fabric and felt to create unique, personalized characters.
