Member artists of the Cultural Council of Indian River County responded with enthusiasm and creativity when the Vero Beach Museum of Art offered gallery space to show their works during the Museum’s main exhibition, American Perspectives: Stories from the American Folk Art Museum Collection.
As part of the Art in Public Places initiative, the Contemporary Folk Art Member Exhibit will be on display Oct. 27 through Nov. 28 in the Patten Community Gallery in the Education wing of the Museum. Asked to submit works in the style of Folk Art, 25 artists brought forth their interpretation of a traditional form with a contemporary flair. In this eclectic and creative collection, complementing the Museum’s main exhibition is a variety of works composed of canvas, clay, basketry, wood, textile, resin, recycled and repurposed materials.
