SA04 Techniques in Colored Pencil
Edmund Cortez, instructor
This five-week class will introduce students to alternate ways of achieving the effects of texture, depth, hard and metal surfaces, and glass with colored pencils. Painterly techniques using colored pencils will be explored and applied to guided weekly exercises. The importance of tone, value, and line as they are created with colored pencil will be explained and demonstrated. The last two classes will be dedicated to drawing, with the instructor’s guidance, a picture of the student’s choice and then using the colored pencil techniques learned during the previous classes to create a colored pencil painting.
