A+ ART Program
A+ ART is a free, Museum-based arts program that serves teens and young adults with ASD and with other special needs. The curriculum for A+ ART follows a unique theme every week and includes but is not limited to: looking and discussing original artworks in the galleries, sketching, related art-making, group discussion, icebreaker questions and games, and group share time/celebrations at the end of every class.
A+ ART meets on Mondays from 3:00 to 5:00pm during the school year (scheduled to begin on September 26, 2022) in the Museum’s galleries and art studios. In addition, the VBMA will offer multiple half-day A+ ART workshops during winter break, spring break, and over the summer. Finally, a family and friends celebration will be held at the end of the school year and at the close of workshops.
The belief that art can enrich all lives and is integral to developing new ways of thinking and problem-solving guides our program. Inspired by close-looking and discussions about artworks in the galleries, and using a variety of technology and materials in our studios, students will express and explore their creativity. Social interaction time will help to instill confidence as well as reduce isolationism.
Class takes place every Monday from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Seasonal A+ ART workshops will be announced throughout the year.
A+ ART follows the School District of Indian River County’s calendar. Class will not be held on the following dates: October 31, November 21, December 26, January 2, January 16, January 30, February 20, March 20.
Start Date: Monday, September 26, 2022
End Date: Monday, May 22, 2023
