Discover modern techniques of the ancient process of encaustics. This course teaches the basic applications of melted beeswax, resin, pigments, and paints fused onto wood panels and substrates. Learn to create opaque and translucent effects while experimenting with layers of smooth and textured surfaces. (Students must be comfortable with propane torch or heat gun and hot wax.) (Prerequisite to Encaustics II)
