M.C. Escher: Drawing and Illusion

M.C. Escher: Drawing and Illusion

Instructor: Barry Shapiro

In this five-week drawing class for Veterans, instructor Barry Shapiro will guide students through drawing principals utilizing artworks from the exhibition, M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations, which include woodcuts, lithographs, drawings, and mezzotints from throughout the artist’s career.

M.C. Escher was a master of technique, design, and illusion. Students will create their own illusory images by examining his artworks in the VBMA’s galleries. The instructor will introduce basic drawing skills, using perspective and Escher’s own theories of design, which combine math, nature, and science.

The VBMA will supply registered Veterans with art supplies and all other class materials.

This five-week class will take place on Mondays from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at the Vero Beach Museum of Art in Studio 2.

Start Date: Monday, October 9, 2023

End Date: Monday, November 6, 2023
