On the second Wednesday of the month we bring you a new themed video lesson with an artwork, lesson plan and art project.

April 14: Up, Down, and All Around
This month, artwork and books highlight all things above the treetops and below on the ground with a focus on landscapes from the exhibition Poetry of Nature: Hudson River Landscapes from The New-York Historical Society.

May 12: Taking Shape
Learn about three-dimensional artworks in the VBMA’s collection in connection with books about shapes.

June 9: Color the World
Explore the variety of hues we see in the world and in artworks in the exhibition A Tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Tom Golden Collection.

Our inspiration comes from two very different but equally stunning artistic rendering of trees: Duncan McClellan’s beautiful glass vase called Rain Forest (1994) and James Balog’s photographic compilation called Giant Sequoia, “Stagg” (2001).
