This week Museum Stories celebrates Earth Day with the theme of trees.  Our inspiration comes from two very different but equally stunning artistic rendering of trees: Duncan McClellan’s beautiful glass vase called Rain Forest (1994) and James Balog’s photographic compilation called Giant Sequoia, “Stagg” (2001). Check out the fun books and songs we found to help you recreate Museum Stories in your home.

  • Book: I Love the Earth by Todd Parr / Song: “Mother Nature’s Song” by The Beatles
    Read along with the story:
  • Book: Seeds Move! By Robin Page / Song: “The Green Grass Grows All Round” by The Kiboomers
    Read along with the story:
  • Book: Curious George Plants a Tree by Margret & H.A. Rey / Song: “I’ll Plant a Little Seed”
I’ll Plant a Little Seed (to the tune of I’m a Little Teapot)

I’ll plant a little seed in the dark, dark ground.
Out comes the yellow sun, big and round.
Down comes the cool rain, soft and slow.
Up comes the little seed, grow, grow, grow!

Read along with the story:

Get ahead with kindergarten readiness: practice naming colors, shapes, and opposites (big/small, dark/light).
