FIGURE SCULPTURE Winter 2019 Materials
FIGURE SCULPTURE
George Paxton
Intermediate and advanced levels
Students will develop proficiency in figurative sculpture in this ten-week course. Working from a live model, students will create one or two figure sketches in water-based clay that may be fired into a finished work. We will then move on to create a standing, one-third size figure in oil-based clay, using a wire armature as a structural base. Principles of anatomy, proportion, and gesture will be taught. Proportional calipers will be employed to assist in creating an accurate representation of the human form. Oil-based clay, a figure armature, a back Iron support, and work boards will be provided as a materials fee of $125.00 payable to the instructor the first day of the course.
