George Paxton
All levels
During this course, students will develop proficiency in figurative sculpture. Working from a live model, students will create three figures or figurative fragments in clay, and individual instruction will be provided. Principles of anatomy, proportion, geometric planes, bone structure gesture, and contrapposto will be taught. Proportional calipers will be employed to assist in creating accurate representations of the human form. Classes will start with basic shapes and blocking in the figures before slowly building on detail, refining work into beautiful anatomically correct, compositionally strong sculptures.
