In this eight week course discover the modern techniques of the ancient process of encaustics. This course teaches the basic applications of melted beeswax, resin, pigments, and paints fused onto wood panels and substrates. Students learn to create opaque and translucent effects while experimenting with layers of smooth and textured surfaces. (Students must be comfortable with propane torch, heat gun, and hot wax.)
Classes meet October 14 – December 9 (no class November 25 due to Thanksgiving week)
