Teacher Professional Development
The VBMA offers professional development sessions for K-12 educators that inform and empower educators through interactive discussion, exploration and experiences to design activities for the specific needs of their classrooms. Each workshop can be combined with a Museum fieldtrip and lesson to provide up to 10 teacher in-service points through the School District of Indian River County.

School Tour Program
Guided tours of the exhibitions are available to school groups free of charge with advance reservation. The School Tour Program is designed for students in grades Pre-K –12, and includes resource materials for teachers. Please call to reserve no later than two to four weeks before your requested date.
School Transportation Fund
Through designated sponsorship, the Museum is able to assist with some of the costs associated with school trips. In addition to offering free admission, teachers may apply for assistance with transportation and substitute teacher costs related to scheduling a
Museum fieldtrip. This fund is limited; please call to inquire and apply as you plan your visit.
Artist In The School
Generate a lasting impact from your Museum fieldtrip! A professional artist works with the teacher then visits your classroom to conduct a customized pre-visit lesson preparing students for their Museum experience. After the fieldtrip’s interactive tour and hands-on project, a follow-up visit by the artist reinforces the concepts introduced through collaborative activities. All lessons correlate to the Sunshine State Standards and integrate academic subject area content with visual arts concepts and skills.
